At the Old Dulwichian Reunion last week it was mentioned to me by the Head that the toll gate (the last I gather in London) earns the College enough each year to cover the cost of a senior member of teaching staff. In all the discussion of cuts and possible sources of income this year I don't remember this idea being raised for Armageddon. With the very large numbers of vehicles using the Drive and College Avenue each day a token charge of, say, 50p could raise enough to cover the much needed modernisation of the kitchens in the Vice Chancellor's Lodge in time for the arrival of the new incumbent. Of course we could offer concessions for the disabled and senior officers. I'd be grateful for your reactions.
