Quite clearly a place of such beauty, solitude and historical importance should be assigned to the Administrative arm of the University. This would be in keeping with current trends around the world. There is bound to be an old barn or stable complex somewhere in the vicinity that would provide perfectly adequate academic staff accommodation.

There are historical examples of academics vandalising their own institutions viz. the fire in the library at Heidelburg in the 16th century(?),where scholars were complicit in the arson of precious manuscripts. The current destruction of the British tradition was equally pernicious.
